Welcome to Tateshina Sancho Hutte!

Our mountain lodge “Tateshina Sancho Hutte” is located on the top of Mt. Tateshina (2,530.7m above sea level), rising northern tip of Yatsugatake Mountains which is a group of 8 inactive volcanic peaks.

Mt. Tateshina is listed among the 100 famous mountains in Japan (Nihon Hyakumeizan), and on top of the mountain, you can enjoy a vast and bald rocky summit with an impressive 360° panoramic views.

 

Located on the top of the mountain, we offer a relaxing and peaceful time surrounded by spectacular scenery of many famous mountains.

Importance Notice

(Submission of Moutain Climbing Registration)

Submitting the Mountain Climbing Registration is mandatory.
Please make sure to fill in the Mountain Climbing Registration form (Trekking Itinerary) and submit it either by posting in a box set up at each trailhead or by fax (03-6862-5035).

<Important Notice to Avoid Mountain Accidents>

  1. Please make a careful plan based on your experience, skills, and physical fitness.

  2. Please enroll in Sangaku-hoken insurance (or hiking insurance) for mountaineering and climbing.

  3. Please keep in mind the concept of "leaving early and arriving early" without straining yourself and also remember to be fully equipped with the necessary outfit.

  4. Please prepare yourself, mentally and physically, before starting to climb.

  5. Please check the latest forecast before you go. The weather in the mountains changes rapidly.

Lodging Prices

All prices are shown with sales tax included (10%).

* The price for a child applies to those in elementary school age or younger. (No charge for a child between 0 to 3 years old.)

* For those ordering lunch box, please choose to receive either on arrival date or departure date.

Reservations

  • Advance reservation is required. Please make a reservation by either e-mail or online reservation form at least 2 days before the arrival date.

  • Please make sure to arrive at the cabin by 4 pm. In case of delay, please inform us in advance.

  • For lodging with no reservation or reservation on the day of arrival, an additional charge of 500 JPY is required.

  • For those making a reservation on the day of arrival, please make sure to give us a call for the reservation.

* Cancellation or amendment should be made at least 2 days before the arrival date.

​

* In case of cancellation on the day before or on the arrival date, the following cancellation fees will be charged as we already limit the number of reservations and prepare meals.

   Day before  4,000 JPY per person

   The day of / No show  7,000 JPY per person

* Membership Discount: 500 JPY discount will be applied to members of the following organizations.

- The Japanese Alpine Club
- Japan Worker's Alpine Federation
- Tokyo Mountaineering Federation
- Japan Rescue Organization

(Please show your membership card to our staff when you arrive.)

Facilities

  • Toilet
    The toilet is located outside of the lodge. There is no toilet fee for lodging guests.
     

  • Hand-wash Area
    There is a hand-wash area next to the toilet for washing hands/face or brushing teeth.
    *Please note that water gets frozen from late autumn to early spring.
     

  • Bedclothes
    Bedclothes (mattresses, blankets, and pillows) will be offered. There is no need to bring your own.
     

  • Bath and Shower
    There is no bath nor shower equipped in the lodge due to limited water supply.
     

  • Changing Room
    There is a changing room for women available outside of the lodge.

Trekking Trails

There are 6 options to climb up to the summit.
 

  1. Nanagome Tozanguchi – 七合目登山口 (Required time: 2hrs)
    *About 100 parking spaces available

  2. Ogawara Toge – 大河原峠(Required time: 2hrs 10min)　
    *About 50 parking spaces available

  3. Tateshinayama Tozanguchi – 蓼科山登山口(Required time: 3hrs)
    *About 30 parking spaces available

  4. Ryugenbashi – 竜源橋(Required time: 3hrs 30min)
    *About 5 parking spaces available

  5. Pool Daira – プール平(Required time: 3hrs 30min)
    *No parking space so use local bus

  6. Kita Yatsugatake Ropeway – 北八ヶ岳ロープウェイ(Required time: 7hrs)
    *Huge parking lot available

  1. Nanagome Tozanguchi – 七合目登山口(1,900m above sea level) *
    The easiest way for reaching Nanagome tozanguchi is by using a car.
    Another option is taking a train to Chino station, and then change to a local bus or take a taxi for the rest of the way.
     

  2. Ogawara Toge – 大河原峠(2,090m above sea level)
    There is no local bus running from the nearest train station. It is recommended to use a car or take
    a taxi from Chino station.
     

  3. Tateshinayama Tozanguchi – 蓼科山登山口(1,720m above sea level)
    The easiest way for reaching Nanagome tozanguchi is by using a car. Another option is taking a train to Chino station, and then change to a local bus or take a taxi for the rest of the way.
     

  4. Ryugenbashi – 竜源橋(1,650m above sea level)
    The easiest way for reaching Nanagome tozanguchi is by using a car. (There are not enough parking spaces.)
    Another option is taking a train to Chino station, and then change to a local bus or take a taxi for the rest of the way.
     

  5. Pool Daira – プール平(1,343m above sea level)
    As there is no parking lot, it is recommended to take a train to Chino station, and then change to a local bus or take a taxi for the rest of the way.
     

  6. Kita Yatsugatake Ropeway – 北八ヶ岳ロープウェイ(1,771m above sea level)
    The easiest way for reaching Nanagome tozanguchi is by using a car. Another option is taking a train to Chino station, and then change to a local bus or take a taxi for the rest of the way.
